Central Australia’s only dedicated music hub including record label, live venue, recording studio, rehearsal room, film studio, art space, screen printing, workshop space, AV production service, tour management, artist development and mentoring, employing and up-skilling the local industry, championing local artists while delivering a year round calander of events, bringing in artists from around the world, and a producer of major events including Australia’s first camp-out heavy metal music festival Blacken Open Air. The only resource of its kind in a 1500km radius.

In 2025 alone, The Black Wreath collaborated with over 400 artists, from ten countries, across heavy metal, rock, punk, hip-hop, and EDM genres, uplifting an entire industry in one of the most remote and disadvantaged music scenes in the country.

For fifteen years, The Black Wreath has been at the heart of Central Australia's creative community. What began as a grassroots response to the challenges faced by remote artists officially launched on 11.11.11 with Australia's first label launch concert to be filmed and live-streamed nationally. Built from a backyard studio and powered by DIY determination, we recorded albums, grew the local scene, and in 2013 launched Blacken The Globe, bringing national attention and touring artists to Central Australia.

In 2017, that vision found a permanent home. We transformed a run-down industrial building into a purpose-built creative hub with a recording studio, rehearsal spaces, stage and bar. Since then, artists from across the Outback have come together under one roof to create, record and perform.

The venue has continued to evolve through years of community-driven renovations, including the addition of an outdoor performance space and the launch of the Dead Centre Weekender festival. Today, The Black Wreath is a nationally recognised incubator for remote talent, helping launch artists such as Southeast Desert Metal and Mulga Bore Hard Rock onto stages across Australia, while continuing to champion heavy music and regional creativity from the heart of the Red Centre.
